This simple sugar cookie recipe originated in a Home Economics class in the 1970’s. It has since been perfected and passed down a generation to us and we are happy to share it with you all.

Cut Out Cookies

3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
Pinch of salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
- Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar
- Cut in butter
- Beat together eggs, sugar, and vanilla
- Combine two mixtures, adding flour until it is not sticky
- Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
*If you are adding food coloring to different parts of your cookies, separate into three separate balls to refrigerate. - Roll out on a floured surface, adding flour as needed.
- Cut into shapes with cookie cutters
- Bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees F
