2016 – Our Year In Review

Well, 2016 in many ways was a bust but not all hope is lost. Although there are many things that didn’t go according to plan, there is still a lot to be grateful for. We’re seeing a lot of green growth happening beneath the surface of the year’s ashes.

Let me bring you up to speed.

Well Rounded Guru

Mary and I have owned the domain www.wellrounded.guru for a few years now and have finally taken the time to build up more content and really bring it to life. It’s a lifestyle/wellness website where we share homemade recipes, information on yoga, and other healthy lifestyle choices, but with a pinch of indulgence;)

We are now excited to open the Well Rounded Guru Shop where we offer three blends of tea and have started on apparel. We only have one t-shirt design for now, but have more in the works for this spring.

We hope to make this site a great resource for anyone that enjoys cooking, yoga, and wants to learn about ways to make positive life changes. I suggest that you try Mary’s carrot-ginger muffin recipe if you’re looking for a good place to start. They’re absolutely the best!

Don’t forget to subscribe to our mailing list if you are interested in staying up to date with our latest content. We also appreciate your support by liking our Facebook page.

Yoga

This fall Mary and I have been going through yoga teacher training with Breathe for Change. At the end of the year we will be certified yoga instructors. It’s been a great experience and we’re excited to share our love for yoga with others. If you are interested in the training we’ve been blogging about the experience here on WellRounded.Guru.

Furthermore, Mary has been focusing on kids yoga, working with Little Om Big Om and teaching youngster classes throughout the Madison community. Myself, I’ve been working on developing yoga class for musicians and together we plan to offer couples/partner yoga classes within the community. We have already have been registered to instruct at the Breathe Yoga Festival in Fort Collins, CO the last weekend in June! Maybe we’ll see you there?

Jourdan Hines Music

This is the first time in a long time that I’m not in a zillion bands and/or teaching 35+ lessons a week. That means that I’ve had more time to work on originals, book solo gigs, and have plans to put out a couple albums over the next year. You can check out www.jourdanhines.com to hear my tunes, see where I’m playing next, or you can follow me on social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube.

This past summer I did a remake of JT song Can’t Stop the Feeling and won 3rd place in a nationwide music video contest. You can watch it here and if you pay close attention at the end of the video you’ll have a hint about our next big news…

Mary and I are Engaged!

Last, but not least of course, Mary and I are getting married next summer! We knew from the start that we were meant for each other and we’re excited to share the news with everyone. Life is an epic journey as we are guided along our path towards the horizon. We’re so happy to be doing it side by side and hand in hand.

If you have interest in traveling to the Northwoods of WI and want to join us for a big outdoor party on the 1st of July, you can find the details here. It’s a laid back sort of thing and if you’re the camping type it’ll be right up your alley! We just ask that you please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

That’s a Wrap

As I reflected on this past year I’m certain it was a challenge for good reasons if not solely to help us grow. When life gets difficult, I think it is best to view the hard times as a catalyst for growth and to think about who we are as people and what we wish to become.

I choose to believe in fairytale endings, that gold is at the end of the rainbow, and that everything happens for a reason. With 2017 just around the corner we’re excited about the new, exciting, and positive things to come. Please continue to join us along this incredible journey!

It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” ~ Ernest Hemingway
